CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP, PASSION-BASED TEACHING, VALUES AT WORK, AND ETHICAL CLIMATE: A CAUSAL MODEL ON LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR AMONG PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN REGION XII
Abstract
This study determined the best-fit causal model of leadership behavior among public elementary school teachers in Region XII as predicted by charismatic leadership, passion-based teaching, values at work, and ethical climate. A quantitative, non-experimental causal modeling design was employed, with respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Adapted, modified, and validated survey questionnaires were used, and data were analyzed using mean, Pearson r, multiple regression, and structural equation modeling. Results revealed that all variables were at a very high level. Charismatic leadership, passion-based teaching, values at work, and ethical climate were each significantly correlated with leadership behavior. Regression analysis confirmed that ethical climate was the strongest predictor, followed by passion-based teaching and charismatic leadership, while values at work did not emerge as a significant direct predictor. Model 3 emerged as the best-fit causal model, revealing that passion-based teaching is the most foundational variable, predicting charismatic leadership and values at work, which in turn shape ethical climate, and ethical climate ultimately influences leadership behavior. These findings highlight the importance of cultivating passionate, values-driven, and ethically grounded school environments to foster effective leadership behavior among public elementary school teachers.
