In recent years, Iran's domestic air companies, which have been involved in aircraft repair, have been designing and manufacturing various types of bird products by establishing design offices and technology development centers. An important issue is the lack of a comprehensive and standardized system used in the country's air industry. The main objective of this research is to review the numbering systems of technical drawings and numbering of parts in the world air industry and provide a native model for the Iranian airline industry. The purpose of this research is in the field of applied research, and field methods such as questionnaires have been used. The statistical society of the design and manufacture of bird equipment is at the level of the airline industry in Iran. The Delphi method has been used to examine and conclude the proposed model. Based on the results of the implementation of the numbering system, it is possible to systematize the process of designing and constructing an aircraft, and as a result, it facilitates the coordination between the design unit and the units of construction and repair, and due to reduced design errors and structural defects in sets and parts of the product It improves the quality and reduces costs in the company, and subsequently improves the reliability of the aircraft and profitability of the company. It is suggested that executive instructions and the processes for mapping and subscribing to the organizations at stake level be developed.

Market increasing competition escalate the challenges facing aeronautics companies to satisfy the diversity of aircrafts applications while keeping design and manufacturing cost of Aircrafts as low as possible. Modularity and commonality in Aircrafts design have been recognized as solution for the stated challenge. Commonality in aeronautics result in offering different aircrafts models at lower costs that broader the use of aircrafts. For modular product design the need to assess the degree of modularity or commonality arises, and many researchers have been motivated for designing various commonality indices for specific focus to assess commonality to evaluate the benefits and compare between the degree of commonality among various product families. This paper proposes new commonality index within design concern that take into account products production quantities. Commonality is assessed for different products quantities patterns using one of previous design concern index (e.g DC...

Design engineers are under constant pressure to improve product design for better manufacturability and product performance. However, design issues and areas for improvements are normally identified in the aerospace industry during the production phase of a products’ lifecycle where design engineers have begun working on other projects under tight schedules for delivery. This investigation focuses on the issues and limitations for managing the production line manufacturing knowledge that can benefit design engineers to implement design for manufacturing strategies at a large aerospace systems manufacturer in the UK. A framework is proposed to describe the current system in order to improve the management of manufacturing knowledge for the design engineers. A prototype solution is proposed to apply in the industry to improve the implementation of design for manufacturability in the engineering function.

In the manufacturing lifecycle of aerospace products, large amounts of data are generated throughout the activities involved. Much of this data contains useful knowledge for engineers to improve various aspects of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) of new or existing products that may help reduce defects in future manufacturing activities. An investigation is carried out at a large UK based manufacturer of aerospace products that aims to introduce an improved approach that supports design engineering activities to make use of the ‘data’ generated to drive the number of re-occurring defects down. This paper particularly focuses on analyzing the requirements for introducing a solution identified from questionnaires, observations and stakeholder reviews and proposes a framework of the components to enable its implementation. The research discussed the requirements and concludes the main findings toward implementing a fully integrated solution at the collaborating company in order to improv...
