Our musical instruments should be reconsidered in various sizes, for various purposes and being reexamined their effect and capabilities. The original instruments are already exceptional, colourful and they are suitable to be used for duo, trio, quarted chamber music teams (İlerici, 1964). It is seen that Autism spectrum disorders children are innate gifted in music. As they cannot communicate with the outside world and the social environment, they live in a withdrawn world. They should be ensured to interact with music starting from of pre-school ages. Considering the place, these children live and their socio-cultural environment, a different kind of style of musical therapy should be chosen for every children. The therapist is the half of the treating with music, and the other half is the child who is going to be treated. Children teach the therapist the style of the treatment. In other words, they are the teacher of the therapist, because these children lead the way through their interactive behavior, body language and sensory organs.

Music Therapy for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders2023 •
Music Therapy (MT) is a way of helping people with a range of disorders. It involves listening to music, talking about it, and singing, dancing, or making music. MT is a general psychotherapeutic help to people with different disorders (Herndon, 2021). This article researches people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and music as a way of treating them. ASD children find it challenging to interact with others, and music, as an ancient form of communication, does not require people to have verbal abilities. Music is the language of art, which goes beyond words and speaks with commonly understood images and emotions, so it can be adapted to meet the needs and tastes of each person. MT is based on music's therapeutic effect on a person's psychological state. ASD is characterized by marked and pervasive deficits in social interaction and communication, limited interests, and repetitive activities. According to the research, it is correct to call autism not a disease or mental retardation but a developmental disorder. Among people with autism, the level of intelligence varies in the same way as among neurotypical people individually. ASD ones need more time and effort to reach their potential because their nervous system is constantly overwhelmed, and music is one of the ways to help them relax.
Tiivistelmä – Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (also called ASD) is the fastest growing disability. Research shows that music is a relational, emotional, and motivational medium that plays an essential role in field of music therapy, specifically for individuals with autism. This Master’s thesis aims at describing the intensive music therapy process with a 24 year-old Turkish-Cypriot male client diagnosed with ASD in a group setting concentrating on his four main areas of impairments (verbal/non verbal, social interaction, organization/perception and aspects of behavior) and how Creative Music Therapy affected such impaired areas. Results were in correspondence with previous studies about music therapy in treatment of individuals with ASD giving support to the notion that through the process of music therapy, the client was given the opportunity to actively participate in music-making within various and appropriate settings as music accommodated the client’s levels and abilities. The applied music therapy seemed to serve as an effective alternative and demonstrated the fact that informal, fun and functional uses of music at institutions such as the Irfan Nadir +18 rehabilitation center can benefit individuals with autism. The case of the client in this study also showed music’s contribution in helping people with autism to live a happier and more fulfilling life.

Objective: The global incidence of autism has rised up. It can appear the importance of interventions and family struggles, because music is attractive for children we can use it as an effective intervention. The goal of this article is a review of the ASD children problems and interventions and the music effects for treating children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Finally, since music is always accessible and the human body utilizes it on a daily basis, we can use music as a complementary method in occupational therapy. Materials & Methods: Comprehensive electronic search of keywords "music therapy", "autism interventions" and "vagus nerve stimulation" was done in international electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar and Google Books between 2000 and 2021. In the first part of the search, based on the considered keywords, 30,446 articles were obtained. After reviewing the abstracts of articles, 30,405 articles were discarded due to lack of entry criteria, and finally 41 articles were selected. Among these, 30 articles focused on autism and its interventions and another 11 articles focused on the vagus nerve. Results: children with autism have lots of problems in different aspects and communicate with them is not like normal children. One best way to break this barrier is music. According to Physics, music is placed in energy spectrum as one part of sounds and volumes, which can affect on our body energy. On the other side the rhythmical and compositionality feature of music reinforce this consequence. Due to these features, music is more popular and we can utilize it for children with autism, who don't have enough eye contact and communication. We often use music in our daily lives, for example, from ringing the doorbell to using the phone or waiting in the elevator to reach the desired floor and etc. it is one common and available supplementary way that we can use it for treating beside the other methods. The music plays an important role in activation of Parasympathetic Nervous System via the vagus nerve stimulation. The vagus nerve is a tenth nerve of twelve pairs cerebral nerves. The tenth nerve is one of the most important nerves which originates from the brain and is responsible for innervating face, thorax, abdomen and etc. It is a motor sensory nerve. The vagus nerve is also involved in the Parasympathetic Nervous System. The parasympathetic nerves have a great effect on the relaxation of the body. Vagus nerve has two sensory ganglia that transmits sensory impulses: the superior and the inferior ganglia, by which we can affect on parasympathetic nerves for improvement. Generally these ganglions innervates different part of body such as: ear (where the most stimulations happen in this place) , larynx, heart, pulmonary system, abdomen and abdominal viscera. Because of this innervation vagus nerve stimulation can change the activity of pulmonary system, heart, abdomen, intestine and etc. and contributes to relaxation. The music stimulates the vagus receptors of the ear. Conclusion: Since music is an accessible and attractive resource, it can be used as a complementary method along with medication and other methods, due to which the connection with the child with autism is established and under the shadow of relaxation, learning and more concentration is provided.

Based on a research experience regarding the psychoanalytical group treatment of autistic children, the article reflects on the presence of more than one analyst in the setting. The interaction between analysts favors a non-directive approach, enabling the child to take action spontaneously, without being forced to a contact that can be extremely unsettling for the autist. Furthermore, one observes the effects of voice as a support for the caretakers, who talk, play and sing with each other, eliciting a libidinal excitement able to involve the autistic child. The music that reverberates through the circle games transmits both the symbolic aspects of culture and the real of la langue’s jouissance. In a particular case, the singing prosody revealed itself to be a specific imaginary way to treat the real of voice which invades the autistic subject. Using folk songs as mediation objects, it was possible to conceive a treatment direction that took into account a solution that sprung from...

THE CONSTITUTIVE FUNCTION OF VOICE AND THE POWER OF MUSIC IN THE TREATMENT OF AUTISM A FUNÇÃO CONSTITUTIVA DA VOZ E O PODER DA MÚSICA NO TRATAMENTO DO AUTISMO2020 •

Thus, one evidences, also in autism, the role of voice as pulsional object in the subjective constitution. Keywords: Autism; psychoanalysis; invocative drive.

Redefining Autism: From Disability to Talent How Music Therapy Can Help to Improve the Potential of People on the Autism Spectrum2020 •
Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) are a set of neurodevelopmental conditions mainly characterized by differences in social interaction and sensory perception and processing, often showing a particular cognitive style. Language impairment and intellectual disability may cooccur in a considerable percentage of cases. According to a new idea that is slowly taking its place also among specialists and researchers, autism may actually be seen as a different neurotype. The old medical model made of deficits, disabilities and impairments is fading out in favor of the concept of neurodiversity. According to this view, the need for sameness and repetitive behaviors may be specific traits of a particular intelligence style resulting in hyperfocusing on selected, often peculiar subjects of interest. Seeing deficits and disabilities as positive, personal characteristics and specific abilities is a new and inclusive way of looking at autism. Of course, talent is not necessarily the expression of a genius, and personal talents typical of people on the autism spectrum may be the result of their systemazing cognitive style (Baron-Cohen, 2009). This article will focus on what the DSM-5 defines as level 1 autism (which includes what was previously diagnosed as Asperger’s syndrome) and is the result of a collaboration between Fabrizio Acanfora, a musician diagnosed with level 1 autism, and the music therapist Nuria Escudé. With the advantage of a different point of view on the subject, this contribution is an invitation to medical doctors and music therapists to see autism not just as a repertoire of disabilities and deficits but as a set of different abilities and cognitive styles. In particular, we want to address one of the most common comorbidities that autistic people experience due to their condition: anxiety. We will see how anxiety disrupts concentration representing a major obstacle in the development of personal talents and abilities related to autistic special interests, as well as in the academic and professional performance. Our personal and professional experience is that anxiety levels can be reduced with the help of music-based therapies, allowing autistics to focus on their particular interests in order to develop a valuable set of personal skills, talents and careers.

Music as a therapeutic approach in children with autism spectrum disorderMusic therapy is an alternative form of therapy that has positive impact in many areas of physical and mental health. The purpose of this study was to review researches systematically on the impact of music therapy in children with autism spectrum disorder. PRISMA model was followed including 17 researches out of 27 researches published in various journals related to music therapy from sources like PubMed and Scopus over 6 years and were analyzed in detail. Findings suggested that music therapy has positive outcomes as a treatment approach in children with autism with one study showing no significant relationship. Most of the studies were done on social skills and communication, stereotype behavior and motor coordination and less on other domains like social affect and responsiveness, understanding others gestures and perspective, resistance to change and echolalia. Future studies need to focus on the domains less studied on.

Music therapy, developed over the years by numerous musicians and educators, such as Carl Orff, Jacques-Dalcroze, and Kodaly, have proven to stimulate social interaction, improve selective attention and aid in numerous other developmental milestones. These findings are not only important for parents and school curricula, but also have profound meaning for children with autism. Numerous studies, including work done by Koelsch, as well as Winsler, Ducenne, and Koury, found that children who participated in a music and movement program developed greater self-regulation skills, such as private speech, showed greater improvement in coordination, and fostered positive social interaction between researcher and subject. Autistic children who were exposed to music therapy held eye contact longer, engaged in dialogue, and reduced negative behaviors such as head-banging, avoidance, or self-stimulatory behaviors. Diverse methods of music therapy, including playing instruments, listening to soun...

Unmuting Autism Through Music Therapy: An Experimental Study2022 •
This experimental study is formulated to determine the efficacy of using music as a therapeutic tool among children with an autism spectrum disorder. The sample for the study was selected from the age group of 7-16 years who are attending special schools. After selecting 20 students, they were segregated into two groups i.e., control and experimental groups. The tool used for the analysis was a checklist prepared by the investigator along with BASIC-MR (Behavioral Assessment Scales for Indian Children with Mental Retardation). The intervention was done for 40 sessions each lasting 45 min for 2 months. A remarkable change was noticed in the pre and post-test scores in the statistical analysis. Hence, the study validated the significance of comprehending music as an intervention to enhance the development of functional social skills among autistic children.
