The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Activity Based Environment Education Program on the environment motivation of prospective presevice pre-school teachers. Experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group was used in the research. 40 prospective teachers (20 of them are in experimental group, 20 in control group) attending to Pre-School Education Department in Education Faculty of Amasya University participated in this research. Activity based Environment Education was given to the prospective teachers in the experimental group three times a week for 8 weeks. The data was obtained through ‘Motivation Scale Towards Environment’ ’developed by Pelletier et al. (1998). The data was analysed by using covariance analysis (ANCOVA) and t-test. At the end of the study, a significant difference between the motivation scores against environment of experimental and control groups was found. Results show that the Activity Based Environment Education Program has a positive effect on the environmental motivation of the experimental group.

PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS' MOTIVATION TOWARD THE ENVIRONMENT2013 •
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the aptitude of pre-service preschool teachers’ motivation toward the environment that has great importance on children’s basic learning and every developmental field. Study’s target population include faculty of education preschool teaching undergraduate students of Akdeniz University in 2011- 2012 academic year. Sampling consists of totally 219 pre-service preschool teachers from Akdeniz University. Asa measuring instrument, personal information form, which is prepared by the researchers and Motivation Toward the Environment Scale. Statistical methods, which are suitable for the features and structures of variables as parametric and non-parametric, are used for statistical analysis of the research. As a result of the research, gender and residential factors are not effective on pre-service teachers’ motivation towards the environment, but the factors of age and educational level were found to be effective.

The Development of Environmental Motivation Scale at Secondary Schools and Analysis of Different Variables of Students' Motivation Towards Environment2019 •
This study aims at developing Secondary School Environment Motivation Scale (SSEMS) in order to analyse the motivations of the students for the environment in terms of gender, grade, socio-economic level. The data were collected from 677 secondary school students to develop the scale and 1775 secondary school students for the survey study. SSEMS was developed as16 items, on three-point likert scale and two dimensions (intrinsic and extrinsic motivation). The results of the research show that the general environmental motivation and intrinsic motivation of female students is significantly higher than the male students. There was no significant difference in the environmental motivation levels of female and male students in terms of extrinsic motivation dimension. When the relationships between the students' grade and their environmental motivations are examined, it is revealed that as their grades increase, all motivation levels (general, intrinsic and extrinsic) of students towards environment decrease. Moreover, there is not substantial correlation between the students' socio-economic levels and general environmental motivations. However, as the socio-economic levels of the students increased, their intrinsic motivation increased significantly, and their extrinsic motivations decreased significantly. The gradual change of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as to gender, class and socio-economic level is discussed at length in the article.

A Study on Environment - Oriented Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior Level of Teacher Candidates2017 •
The purpose of education should be to raise people who are researchers, developer, investigating what they find, use their knowledge in their behaviors and who can interpret and put new things on them. When children are being educated, the experience should be before the occurrence of the story. First, good and bad environment should be shown, then education should be provided through narration. In environmental education, young people should be given the chance to work in the organization. The goal should be to educate environmental literate individuals. The purpose of this study is to determine the social literacy and environmental literacy levels of the elementary school teacher candidates and to demonstrate the influence of various variables on the constituents of environmental literacy. The data show that candidate teachers' environmental behavioral tendencies are higher than environmental perceptual tendencies. Gender has no influence on behavior or thought. Keywords: envi...

Environmental Education Program Based on the Perception and Preference towards the Environment for Elementary School Children2020 •
Environmental education's objective is to change a person's attitude and behavior toward the interaction with the environment. Education is a process that is not short term, which means education has to begin as early as possible. This study aims to design and create destination-specific attributes of an environmental education program based on the perception and preference towards the environment for elementary school children. Data were collected with three methods of collecting. First, to collect the data on the perception and the preference of the elementary school children, a questionnaire was distributed to 120 children. Second, interviews were conducted to the management of the company to collect information on the environmental attractions available in the area, and to gather information on the company's policy towards environmental education. Lastly, a field observation was conducted to obtain the necessary information on the condition of the area as well as to create suitable tracks for this program. All data were analyzed and synthesized using descriptive analysis. It is found that although the perception and preference towards the environment for the school children are not significantly different, the aspects of the perception which are cognition, affection, and conation differ among the class groups. From these results along with the result of the field observation, this study suggests destination-specific attributes environmental education programs designed for the elementary school children.

A Comparative Study on Pre-Service Teachers' and Elementary Students' Attitudes towards the Environment2007 •
It has been aimed to compare the environmental attitudes of teachers and teacher candidates and to present the importance of environmental education in teacher training. The sample of the research includes 605 final year students attending undergraduate programs of pre-school education and child development education in the universities of Konya, Ankara, Afyon, and Denizli provinces during 2008-2009 academic year and 300 pre-school teachers attending National Education Ministry In-service Training Programs conducted in Yalova, Aksaray and Rize provinces during 2008-2009 academic year. “Environmental Attitude Scale” has been used as the data collection tool. According to t-test and MANOVA results, it has been determined that teacher candidates got higher scores than pre-school teachers in terms of the total results of environmental attitude scale, and particularly the sub-factors “Importance of Field Trips in Environmental Education” and “Environmental Conservation Activities”. Also, it has been stated that the difference between the scores of teachers and teacher candidates taken from the sub-factors “Requirement of Education for Environmental Problems” and “Environmental Pollution and Conservation” is not significant. In the light of the findings, researchers and practitioners have been provided with suggestions.

Primary School Teachers' Attitude towards Environment: An Empirical Study2016 •
Study of Environment now occupies central place in school curricula in many developing and developed countries. The teacher plays an important role in teaching learning process and in turn the child is influenced by his teaching to meet the social and physical aspects of the environment so this study is an attempt to find out the attitude of primary school teachers towards environment. The sample in this study consists of 200 primary school teachers of private and government schools of rural and urban area of Allahabad district. For this study a self constructed and validated Environmental Attitude scale has been used. There are 50 items related to 4 areas (Wild life and Forest; Health and Hygiene; Pollution and Environmental Concern) of Environment. The finding of the study revealed that teachers teaching in primary schools have favourable attitude towards environments. But if we closely observe the result we find there is significant difference in attitude of primary school teachers of rural and urban areas towards environment but no significant difference was seen between government and private school teachers.

A Study on the Environmental Attitudes of Candidate Teachers2014 •
2018 •
The aim of this research is to develop an instrument that measures environmental attitudes of third grade students. The study was completed in six stages: creating scale items, content validity study, item total and remaining item correlation study, determining item discrimination, determining construct validity study and examining the internal consistency reliability of Cronbach’s Alpha. In this research, quantitative research methods and techniques were used. According to the data obtained from exploratory factor analysis, scale came under three sub-factors as “Positive Environmental Behaviors”, “Environmental Knowledge and Awareness” and “Negative Environmental Behaviors”. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, it is determined that chi square/df, RMSEA value and the other statistical significance levels are consistent with the collected data. Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was taken between 0.71-0.94 for sub-scales and 0.93 for the total scale. In the light of these data...
