This study is designed to examine the composite and relative effects of educational input, process variables and learning outcomes on quality of secondary school education among selected employers of labour in south west, Nigeria. Descriptive research design of correlational type was employed to investigate the relationship that exists between the educational input, process variables and learning outcomes on quality of secondary school education among the selected employers of labour in south west, Nigeria. 518 employers of labour in south west, Nigeria were used for the study with 323 males and 195 females. Primary data were collected from the concerned individuals using questionnaire tagged “Perception of Employers’ of Labour on input, process variables and learning outcomes on quality of secondary school education in Nigeria”. This instrument was divided into five sections viz the demographic, input, processing, product and quality of secondary school education sections, all together has a test-re-test reliability coefficient of 0.71. Correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the three research questions that were raised at 0.05 levels of significances. The result revealed significant composite effect and relative contributions with curriculum as the most potent predictor (β = 0.544; t= 7.692; p< 0.05), followed by teachers quality (β = 0.531, t=12.767, p<0.05) followed by school friendly environment (β = 0.445, t= 5.696, p<0.05) followed by evaluation of learners (β = 0.405, t= 3.924, p<0.05), followed by learners support (β = 0.107, t= 1.987, p<0.05) and learners’ discipline (β = 0.176, t= 2.369, p<0.05). Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that parents should see to the education need of their children early enough. Also, that teachers’ quality should be looked into on issues of teaching-learning; curriculum implementation, learners support and learners discipline. Also, that curriculum should be prepared so as to make it relevant to individuals, cooperate existence and at large for national development.

Four research questions were answered, while data were analysed using Pearson Product Movement Correlation (PPMC) and Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA) at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that there were positive relationships between students' achievement in English grammar and teacher job satisfaction (r= 0.349), teacher-student relationship (r=.172) and lesson delivery (r=.560) respectively. Also, the composite contribution of teacher job satisfaction, lesson delivery and teacher-student relationship to students' academic achievement is significant (F= 48.334, R=.573, R =. 329) accounting for 32.9% of the variance in achievement.. The relative contributions are .172 and .183) for lesson delivery, job satisfaction and teacher-student relationship respectively. University education in Nigeria has been re cognized for its role in pertinent workforce training for the benefit of learners and the community. However, the role of university education in stimulating national economic growth and transformation exacerbates the need to ensure quality within the universities system . The quality and focus of the training offered by the Nigerian universities are not in tune wi th the needs of society which leads to high unemployment. Soludo (2012) stresses that the problem of unemployment in Nigeria is not because there are no jobs but because there ar e no competent graduates to do the jobs. This study examines the influence of f aculty of education cu rriculum on the attributes of graduates produced. 12 public and private secondary school s in Kwara State were selected for this study. A total of 100 graduates of educa tion teaching in secondary schools and 100 management members including heads of departme nts, vice principals and principals were selected for the study. The findings of the study show that the curriculum has a great influence on the quality of teachers produced in faculties of education in Nigerian higher education. Frequent review of teacher s training curriculum was recommended.
Given the continuing economic difficulties facing Nigeria, the need for Nigerian Higher Education Institutions to stimulate and support entrepreneurial development, economic renewal and growth, has never been more pressing. Adopting a descriptive survey design, stratified random and simple random sampling techniques were employed in choosing a sample of 498 graduate apprentices for the study from the five skills acquisition training centres in Jigawa State, Nigeria. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Multiple Correlation and Stepwise Multiple Regression statistics at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that practical orientation, extra-curricular activities, business idea generation, business planning, venture creation, networking events, enterprise skills developments significantly combine to influence employability of graduate apprentices. However, a non-significant difference existed in the entrepreneurial abilities to create new ventures amongst graduate apprentices. It was concluded that Higher Education Institutions should intensify efforts to equip students with skills and entrepreneurial training so that they would be job creators instead of job seekers. It is imperative for graduates to learn and continuously update their skills to make them work-ready. Key words: Higher Education Institutions, entrepreneurship, enterprise skills development, venture creation, business idea generation

STAFF-STUDENTS' RATIO AND EDUCATION QUALITY OF UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME IN THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN2013 •
This study, which was anchored on the UNESCO quality education framework and quantity-quality trade-off theory, considered the Staff-Students' Ratio (SSR) in undergraduate programme in the University of Ibadan (UI) as it relates to and explains quality education. The descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The multi-stage procedure was used to sample participants 703 of the 15,157 undergraduate students. The two validated instruments used for data collection were: the Life Skills Acquisition Scale (r = 0.76), which measured the education quality of undergraduates students and the Undergraduate Enrolment and Staff Strength Template, to collect secondary data on SSR from the Academic Planning Unit. Four research questions were answered using descriptive statistics and four hypotheses were tested at P < 0.05 level of significance using inferential statistics. Findings revealed that education quality received by undergraduate students of the University of Ibadan was very good with overall average performance of 70. Also, There was no significant difference (P > 0.05; t cal = 1.27 < t crit = 1.96) between male and female undergraduate students in UI as regards the education quality received. In the same vein, there was no significant difference (P > 0.05; t cal = 0.06 < t crit = 1.96) between 300 and 400 levels students in UI as regards the education quality received. Furthermore, findings showed that there was a significant difference (P < 0.05; t cal = |3.66| > t crit = 1.96) between NUC recommended SSR for undergraduate programmes and current SSR in undergraduate programme in UI. The SSR in UI was far lesser than the NUC recommended SSR. (UI = 10.38 and NUC = 21.56,). Finally, the SSR in undergraduate programme in UI had no significant influence (F (1, 14) = 2.24, P > 0.05) on quality education. It was concluded that, students-teacher ratio in University of Ibadan, despite being lower than the NUC benchmark and having a negative relationship with education quality in the institution, was not an explanation for the high education quality in the institution-a situation, which may be peculiar to UI and therefore raising the need for a nationwide study. Therefore, it was recommended that, UI should sustain and consolidate on its current efforts in
