Unlike other stages of human development, early childhood is the critical stage that forms the foundation for children's' future wellbeing and learning ((UNICEF, 2001). Early Childhood Education helps a learner to develop skills, knowledge, personal competence and confidence and a sense of social responsibility. Information Communication and Technology in Early Childhood Education is significant as it supports and strengthens early childhood education practice. The present study is interested in assessing the integration of ICT particularly educational Compact Disc ROM as modern tool in Education. The study bases on the potentials brought by Educational Compact Disc. The researcher went through different literature on the potentials by linking them with the Constructive approach of learning. In the study it was found that the application of CD–ROMs was used more in language development, development of literacy skills as well as in the expansion of language vocabularies. However, changes in education were also seen that is from traditional mode of teaching into new model of teaching which is mostly supported by the Constructivism theory of learning. Thus, Educational CD-ROM as multimedia technologies is potential in creating high quality learning environments in early childhood education.

The use of interactive CD-ROM in early childhood education: Teachers’ thoughts and practices2011 •
Abstract The purpose of the research is to determine the opinions of the early childhood teachers working in Denizli about the use of interactive CD-ROMs in the education programs. The research has been conducted with the qualitative research methods. In the research, semi-structured interview has been used as a way of gathering data, which is one of the interview ways. The research has been conducted with five early childhood teachers teaching different age groups of children. According to the findings gathered in the research, it has been found that the teachers use the interactive CD-ROMs in the classrooms very rarely because of the lack of the computer equipments in the classrooms. Moreover, it has been also found that they aim at children’s psychomotor and cognitive development with the use of the interactive CD-ROMs. Among the other findings in the research, it has been found that the teachers recommend the virtual and audio elements of the interactive CD-ROMs to be prepared more elaborately and carefully. Furthermore, It has been found striking that the recommendations of the preparation of interactive CDROMs on the topics supporting the development of sociality and the abstract topics that the adults have difficulty in understanding. At the end of the research, considering the findings gathered, the suggestions have been made for the educationists and the teachers.

This paper presents the ICT integration situation in Tanzania, and the efforts that are being made by the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), as a teacher training institution, to have ICT integrated in the education system at the college and country at large. Over 60 articles and reports were gathered and read in the process of writing the paper. However, through rigorous review of each article only 35 were found to match best with the goal of this study. Results from literature indicate that technology integration in the country was still at an infant stage. Most educational institutions were neither integrating technologies effectively for administrative nor academic activities. Some of the factors reported as hindering the effective use of technology in most schools include limited teachers’ technological knowledge, unreliable supply of electricity in most schools, lack of technological tools and negative attitude of some teachers on the use of technology in te...

Living in the digital age means that modern information and communications technologies (ICT) have penetrated into every aspect of human lives, including education. Despite the fact that ICT are widely used in educational setting, many educators (and parents) have nevertheless remained concerned about how to adapt them into children´s education meaningfully and effectively. The use of ICT in education in general, and in preschool institutions in particular, has become an important research issue. The study focuses on evaluating multimedia CD-ROMs published in two countries with the intention to be used in preschool institutions for the introduction of English as a foreign language to the youngest learners (children 3-6 years). The results point to the fact that majority of the CD ROMs offered activities which were marked as "robotic", "glib", "static", and "empty" (built upon simple and usually mechanically repeated instructions), never reached beyond mechanical memorisation of English vocabulary in any entertaining way. The author calls for designing cognitively challenging materials which could support development of higher cognitive or affective functions of very young learners.

Integration of Information Communication Technology into Teaching and Learning in Early Learning in Bungoma County2020 •
The relationship between learning and technology integration hold the promise of revolutionizing education because the core purpose is to facilitate knowledge management by providing a structured environment that equips learners with the skills to promote learning, especially as the world grows increasingly digitalised. The objectives of the study were: to investigate the integration of ICT in teaching and learning methods, to analyse the integration of ICT in teaching and learning materials and to examine the integration of ICT in the assessment of early learning. The study was guided by Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Framework (TPACK). The study population included Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers, education officers in charge of ECD in the county and public primary school head teachers. Simple random sampling was used to obtain 177 ECD teachers that is 10% of 1,768 ECD teachers from 884 public primary schools in Bungoma County. The study adopted a descriptive research design. Questionnaire and interview schedules were the main primary data tools for data collection. The findings showed that teacher's underutilization of ICT in the classroom and their resistance to embedding ICT across the curriculum can be detrimental to attempts to introduce new teaching and learning technologies in education. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor teacher's ICT utilization and examine factors that contribute to their sceptical practices of teaching with technology. The results indicated that ICT devices can be used for improving the assessment outcomes and thus improve the efficiency and effectiveness of learning. The study also found out that several challenges have impeded the integration of ICT into early and this includes power supply, inadequate ICT training and an insufficient number of ICT devices in schools for successful integration. The study recommends that the government improves the numbers of ICT devices in school to improve on the ratio of the ICT devices per pupil, facilitate ICT training for teachers.
Preschool learning has faced numerous challenges which have raised concerns among preschool education stakeholders. Preschool learners have registered and continued to register dismal grades in basic numeracy, language and creativity skills. Thus, the study examined the influence of teachers’ instructional practices on preschool learning in Kiambu West Sub-county, Kiambu County, Kenya. The objective of the study was to examine the impact of integration of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the teaching of preschool children in Kiambu West Sub-County. This study based on instructional, learning and cognitive theories by Piaget. The study adopted mixed methods approach, concurrent triangulation design. Target population comprised of 80 head teachers, 187 preschool teachers and 240 parents’ representatives all totaling to 507. Using the Central Limit Theorem, a sample of 10 preschools and 86 respondents were selected. Stratified sampling was applied to create 5 strata based ...
