The purpose of the present research is defining state and trait anxiety levels before and after matches among hockey referees. The sample of the research consists of 16 referees who refereed in hockey super league in 2014-2015 seasons. Data of the research were collected with Trait-State Anxiety Inventory, which was developed by Spielberger et al. (1970) and adapted to Turkish by Öner and Le Compte (1985). Collected data were analysed on SPSS 22.0 packaged software. Before and after matches data were compared with paired samples t-test. According to the analyses, state anxiety scores were higher than trait anxiety scores among hockey referees before matches. Additionally, state anxiety levels were higher among referees, who were 31 and older, married, and had a medium or low level of income. Consequently, there is a negative and strong correlation between income and state anxiety.

Research on the Relationship between Curling Referees’ State-Trait Anxiety and Their Decision Making Ability2021 •
Curling sport is called “ice chess” due to its level of precision and the complex structure of strategic thinking to win. It is a sport branch that is tactically reminiscent of chess, and technically reminiscent of bowling (Yılmaz, 2018). In this study, it is aimed to research the relationship between curling referees’ state and trait anxiety, and their decision-making abilities. In this research, a method for descriptive and correlational survey model will be used to determine the current situation. The population of the study consists of 107 referees who take charge in the activities of the Turkey Curling Federation in 2021, and the sample of the study is 97 referees. In this study, the personal information form and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI), developed by Spielberger et al. (1970) and adapted into Turkish by Öner and Le Compte (1985), and the ‘’ Melbourne Decision Making I and II Scales ” developed by Mann et al. (1998) and adapted to Turkish by Deniz (2004) are used...

Anxiety Levels of Futsal Referees in the West Java Provincial Sports Week 2022The aim of this research was to determine the level of anxiety among futsal referees officiating matches in the 14th West Java Provincial Sports Week 2022. The research method used a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection was done using the Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) instrument distributed through Google Forms. The subjects of this study were futsal referees participating in the West Java Provincial Sports Week 2022, totaling 14 individuals. The research findings revealed that the level of anxiety among the referees fell into the low category at 20%, the moderate category at 73%, and the high category at 7%. This indicates that the majority (73%) of the futsal referees in the Provincial Sports Week experienced moderate anxiety. From these results, it can be inferred that the majority of the referees on duty had a moderate level of anxiety, which can be attributed to the certification level held by the referees, as 13 of them were nationally certified referees.
In this study, it is aim to determine the average state-trait anxiety levels of amateur football players before competition. It has been carried out with forty-five players. The age of the players ranges between fifteen and seventeen. In order to determine the anxiety levels of the players, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was used as data collection tool. While analyzing the collected data, frequency (f), percentage (%), standard deviation and ANOVA analyses have been made. After these analyses, it has been found out that the players do not have high level of anxiety levels. It has also been seen that the age and sports age variables do not create a significant difference on the anxiety levels of the players.

The Examination of Trait Anxiety Level of Referees in Different Branches (The Sample of Mugla)2020 •
The aim of this study to examine the trait anxiety level of referees in different branches in terms of some variables. For the model of the research, the survey model, one of the quantitative research types, was chosen. While the population of the research is composed of referees working in different branches in Mugla Province, the sample is composed of 167 referees who have been chosen by a randomized sampling method and participated in the research voluntarily. The authors designed a personal information form for the demographical information of the participants. The "Trait Anxiety Inventory" developed by Spielberger, Gorsuch and Luschene (1) (1970) and adapted to Turkish by Oner and Le Compte (2) (1983) was used to determine the participants' anxiety levels. The data obtained from the form and scale used were analyzed using the SPSS 17 package program. Frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation values were used in the analysis of the data. Data normal distributions were analyzed with Skewness-Kurtosis values. Since the data showed normal distribution, t-test and ANOVA test, which are parametric tests, were used, and the significance level was accepted as p <0.05. According to the findings of the study, while the anxiety levels of the referees showed significant differences in terms of gender, they did not display a significant difference with the variables of age, education level, refereeing time and refereeing classification. Consequently, the trait anxiety levels of female referees are significantly higher in favor of the trait anxiety levels of male referees. This study revealed that anxiety-reducing training should be focused on reducing the trait anxiety situations that female referees experience more than male referees.

Stressors and coping style among volleyball referees in the Northern Border regionThe purpose of this study is to assess the impact of sports stressors and coping strategies among volleyball referees during match management. Although psychological stressors are inherited in the sports arena, research in controlling or limiting stressors among athletes in multiple sports settings are rapidly growing field of sports literature. However, stressors faced by volleyball referees have received less attention from researchers. This study attempts to develop a framework for identifying the most stressful situations experienced by volleyball referees during matches. Participants were a straightforward sample consisting of 18 volleyball male referees registered in the Saudi Volleyball Federation at the Northern Border region. A Stressors of Volleyball Referee Survey (SVRS) was designed and applied, which consisted of five dimensions based on sources of stress: players, coaches, spectators, mass media, and officiating-technical pressure; these dimensions contain a total of 3...
An exploratory investigation of 25 basketball officials’ perceptions of trait anxiety, and state anxiety before, during (half time), and after a basketball game was conducted. Twenty-five male high school and college basketball officials were administered a demographic questionnaire and basketball officiating-modified version of the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2; Martens, Vealey, & Burton, 1990). The participants completed the CSAI-2 within 30 minutes of the start, during half time, and within 15 minutes after the completion of the game. Also after the game, the basketball officials completed a basketball officiating-modified version of the Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT; Martens et al., 1990). Results indicated that the officials reported feeling significantly less cognitive anxiety after a contest than before a contest (p=.018). Also, no significant changes in self-confidence and somatic anxiety across the three contest administrations. Comparisons are made between the officials’ scores with the norms provided with the CSAI-2 and SCAT (Martens et al., 1990).

An equal number of subjects were drawn from five games in each category. The selected subjects received the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) for the assessment of two components of anxiety i.e., state and trait. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean, S.D. and t-test. The level of confidence was set at 0.05. Results revealed significant differences in state as well as trait anxiety levels of the sportsmen of individual and team games, t values were found to be 3.56 and 2.96, respectively. It is concluded from the present data that the players of individual games were more anxious than the players of team games.
