The purpose of the present research was to compare the level of exercise motivation of male and female soccer players. Secondary purpose of this work was to answer of the question " which gender needs what extend of exercise motivation to perform better in sports? " The method carried out in this study was quantitative in nature and based on the questionnaire study. Population of this research consisted on all male and female soccer players in Rakiraki Public High School, Kings Road, Fiji. Among the total population the sample consisted on 50 boys and 50 girls (all subjects were below 17 years of age). The Exercise Motivation Inventory developed by Markland and Hardy, (1993) was used to gauge the level of exercise motivation of both genders. Results of statistical analysis (t-test) showed that there was no significant difference between male and female players on their level of exercise motivation, but the mean value of female players was found considerably higher than the male players. This finding leads to conclude that both male and female under 17 years soccer players having same level of exercise motivation.
This study aims to know the effect of exercise and motivation method of sport toward the result on physical fitness. Motivation is divided into two parts, namely high and low. This study was conducted at SMP N 1 Sajoangin, wajo regency, south Sulawesi province, and academic year 2016/2017. Experiment method was by using factorial design 2x3. The sample consist of 96 students which divided into 6 groups, each group consist of 16 students. The data analysis technique is a two-way analysis of variance and continued by Tukey test at significance level α = 0.05. The result of this study showed that (1) there was differences between exercise method of Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ) and exercises method of plyometric toward the health condition. (2) There were differences between the effect of exercise method of Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ) and exercise method mix toward health condition, (3) there was a differences on the effect of exercises plyometric method and exercises mix m...

Study on Sports High School Students' Motivation Levels in Sports by Some VariablesThe aim of this study is to determine the reasons of motivation of sports high school students and to determine whether these reasons differ according to gender or doing individual sports and team sports. The study included totally 110 sports students who aged between 14 and 18, were doing three individuals sports (table tennis, weight lifting, judo) and three team sports (handball, volleyball, basketball) were subjected to evaluation. The students are 69 male and 41 female individuals. "Sport Motivation Scale" developed by Pelletier et al. (1995) was used as the data collection tool. The Turkish validity and reliability of the scale consisting of 28 items was performed by Kazak (2004). SPSS (Ver.22) package program were used. The data are presented as frequency, percentage (%), mean and standard deviation. In addition, the normal distribution of data with Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used. Independent Samples t test was used to determine the differences between the variables (individual sport-team sport) with normal distribution. The significance level was accepted as 0.05 in the analyses. In conclusion, it was determined that the reasons of motivation of students who were doing individual sports and team sports depended more on intrinsic motivational factors, and that the order of importance of these factors varied according to the individual sports and team sports variable. It was determined that the reasons of motivation of males and females mainly depended on intrinsic factors and the order of importance of these factors varied according to the gender variable. It can be said that male and female students wanted to get pleasure from the sports they did and to be successful in their sports, thus, they were motivated accordingly.

The aim of this study was to assess and compare motives for exercise participation among basketball players and football players. Sixty Delhi state levelbasketball players and football players(n=60) were selected for the purpose of this study. The data was collected by using the Exercise Motivations Inventory 2 (EMI-2) developed by Markland and Ingledew. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics and independent sample 't' test. There was no significant difference in Stress Management, Endurance, and Nimbleness among basketball players and football players. While there was significant difference in Affiliation and Competition among basketball players and football players. The level of significance was set at 0.05.
The aim of this study was to assess and compare motives on exercise participation among non-sports boys and non-sports girls. Sixty non-sports boys and non-sports girls (n=60) who are not related to any kind of sport were selected randomly with age ranging between 18-28years. The subjects were taken from Sharda University and Amity University. The data was collected by using the Exercise Motivations Inventory 2 (EMI-2) developed by Markland and Ingledew. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics and independent sample 't' test. There was no significant difference in Stress Management, Positive Health and Appearance among non-sports boys and non-sports girls of Sharda University and Amity University. While there was a significant difference in Weight Management, Strength & Endurance, and Nimbleness among non-sports boys and non-sports girls of Sharda University and Amity University. The level of significance was set at 0.05.

A Study on Motivation of School Children Towards Participation in Sports2008 •
The sports motivation is a research topic that has been at the heart of many sport and exercise science studies both in the past and present. Sports Motivation Scale (SMS) is necessary to develop and assess extrinsic and intrinsic motivation for athletes to participate in sports. The original form of SMS was developed by Dorcas Butt (1979) and has aimed at measuring aggression, conflict, competence, competition and cooperation in various forms of motivation for the school students. In this paper, a study of sports motivation was carried out among 100 school students practising in sports. This study helps to identify the level of motivation among the sports children and also throw light on the area in which the motivation can be strengthened so that children can show an improved performance in future.

Differences in Motivational Orientation in Physical Education in terms of Gender DifferencesMotivation is one of the factors that influence the success of the physical education learning process. Motivation is divided into two dimensions, namely intrinsic motivation (arising from within) and extrinsic motivation (which is influenced by external or environmental factors). The success of physical education depends on the amount of motivation (motivation) that appears in students. If intrinsic motivation is greater than extrinsic motivation, the success of physical education will be easier to realize. This study aims to determine the motivation orientation of junior high school students in participating in physical education and to determine differences in motivation orientation based on gender in attending physical education in junior high schools. The population in this study were students of SMPN 40 Surabaya, amounting to 677 students. The research sample was 262 students. Sampling was done by random sampling technique with class as the unit of analysis. The data collectio...

Level of Motivational Factors of Athletes in Relation to Their Sports ParticipationPurpose: This study aimed to measure the level of motivational factors of athletes in relation to their sports participation. The study reveals the highest and lowest motivational factors among athletes and the team that are perceived as most and least motivated. Methods and Materials: The study is quantitative in nature. A purposive sampling technique was chosen to get the sample from the population. The research sample consists of student-athletes from Far Eastern University. These student-athletes are enrolled in the academic year 2022-2023. The research is limited to seven (7) participating sports such as Athletics, Basketball, Cheering Squad, Dance Troupe, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, and Table Tennis. Each sport has seven (7) men and women, a total of ninety-eight (98) participants. The instrument used in this study is a standard questionnaire. The Sports Motivation Scale (SMS-28) of Pelletier et. al was used to measure the level of motivational factors of athletes in relation to ...

Psychometric Properties of the "Sport Motivation Scale (SMS)" Adapted to Physical Education2014 •
The aim of this study was to investigate the factor structure of a Spanish version of the Sport Motivation Scale adapted to physical education. A second aim was to test which one of three hypothesized models (three, five and seven-factor) provided best model fit. 758 Spanish high school students completed the Sport Motivation Scale adapted for Physical Education and also completed the Learning and Performance Orientation in Physical Education Classes Questionnaire. We examined the factor structure of each model using confirmatory factor analysis and also assessed internal consistency and convergent validity. The results showed that all three models in Spanish produce good indicators of fitness, but we suggest using the seven-factor model (χ(2)/gl = 2.73; ECVI = 1.38) as it produces better values when adapted to physical education, that five-factor model (χ(2)/gl = 2.82; ECVI = 1.44) and three-factor model (χ(2)/gl = 3.02; ECVI = 1.53).
